Staycation

Staycation in Scottsdale was fun.  Gotta love swimming in mid Nov.  

Fuji camera continues to frustrate, very poor AF performance in low light, no flash in continuous mode, nearly mandatory to set manually aperture and shutter settings when using flash, and no P mode overrides beside exp comp.  Hoping second firmware update will solve some of these issues.  Looking forward to Dec's firmware update with electronic shutter (completely silent shooting) and some menu miscue corrections.  I want to think I'm a decent enough shooter to overcome the shortcomings/quirks but maybe not.

Meet Me Downtown

Jennifer's company sponsored a social weekly walk/run, in our case wagon, in conjunction with the city of Phoenix.  We didn't do the full course but the boys enjoyed DT at night.

PFD Station 12

We visited Phoenix Fire Station 12 over the weekend.  Capt. Bobby Dubnow gave us the most amazing tour and took us around the block on the truck, lights on.  Phoenix Fire Dept is struggling with old equipment and were totally stressed out over the recent mid term elections that almost took these guys' pensions away.

Afterwards, messing around at a restaurant.  

Still struggling with the Fuji's flash.  But think I figured out the quarks after look at these pics.

Friday Night Lights

Fall baseball.  These images were hard to get.  Fuji has a super slow flash sync but shot at 1/250 anyway with a Nikon flash set on manual on a radio trigger.  Got rid of most of the dark banding at the bottom in post.  Now I just need a firmware update to allow flash sync in continuous mode, all these quarks that make this Fuji a static subject only camera.
